New Modules Provide End-to-End Solution for Managing the Contractual, Financial, and Sales Process
New York, NY – RSG Media Systems, www.rsgmedia.com, has announced the launch of new modules to the RightsLogic® product suite to facilitate media companies in more efficiently managing and tracking their contract deal terms, sales process, identifying all available content across any platform, and processing the associated financials. Fully integrated with the RightsLogic Asset Maintenance, Rights-In, Rights-Out, and Program Planning and Scheduling modules, RSG has launched Acquisition Finance, CRM, Producer Extranet, and Workflow on its 2.1 platform.
Applications to better manage media companies’ rights have become increasingly critical due to increased contract complexity, use of third party content creators, the emergence of new distribution platforms and their associated business models, and additional reporting requirements. Generally, the process of identifying available programming and isolating restrictions has been an extremely manual process. Automated centralized applications serve to maximize the use of cleared content and minimize the risk of misuse. RightsLogic has been widely adopted by the largest multi-channel cable networks, video game publishers, professional sports leagues, and others, enabling them to react in real-time to market demand by identifying all cleared assets in any form, time period, territory, and all other criteria.
As the media landscape continues to evolve, it is necessary to not only have immediate access to cleared content, but able to process and manage the associated financials, sales process, and interaction with third party production companies and producers. Mukesh Sehgal, President and CEO of RSG Media Systems comments, “We are always seeking ways to help our customers more profitably manage the evolving media landscape. By providing additional fully integrated tools we are able to facilitate the entire content lifecycle on any platform.”
RightsLogic Acquisition Finance manages the financial processes surrounding acquiring content. As accounting rules change and reporting requirements evolve media companies need increased flexibility in valuing their assets and recognizing costs. New business models and more complex deal terms, such as windows of use (often on different platforms) pose challenges to managing amortization and payment schedules and allocating expenditures. Acquisition Finance provides the Finance department with the deal information in real-time from the RightsLogic Rights-In module and the flexibility to account for these acquired assets in whatever way best reflects the financial health of the firm such as amortization by window or use in addition to straight-line and accelerated.
The CRM (customer relationship management) module manages sales history and customer-client interactions. It includes a management tool to provide budgetary, price point and priority guidance to the content distribution or sales teams. It also includes sales management functions to track and review the performance of the sales force. As a fully integrated RightsLogic module, firms can identify opportunities and manage, track, and guide the sales process from initial contact to contract execution to maximize revenue. CRM helps identify and organize the sales force, while minimizing risk of misuse and eliminating inefficiencies such as data duplication.
The Producer Extranet is web-based tool made available to third party producers and production companies. As programming is increasingly produced externally, managing submissions, deliverables, and rights, has become time consuming and cumbersome with too many internal resources tracking and chasing required items. RightsLogic Producer Extranet enables companies to remotely submit ideas, the available rights they are offering, their financial requirements, and the documents they have available such as scripts and rights bibles. As these ideas become deals, RightsLogic manages the entire process without entering the same data in multiple places and by centralizing all deliverables and notifications.
While the Producer Extranet centralizes the submission and tracking of third party content creators, RightsLogic Workflow defines the rules and automates the submission. Whether these submissions are rejected, given comments for improvement, or ultimately accepted and executed, the necessary management approvals are all automated and defined and fully integrated into RightsLogic. Customers can now use RightsLogic to manage the entire content lifecycle, from idea submission to distribution, while having full visibility into the firms’ available intellectual property and financials.
