As IBC 2014 approaches, a broadcasting and cable market that has been shaken up by the encroachment of over-the-top technologies will meet in Amsterdam to figure out how to stay on top of the industry's shifting sands.
Their chief weapon is TV Everywhere. It's still a somewhat nebulous concept, thanks to a complex landscape including legacy and next-generation technologies and intricate rights licensing. And that has impacted growth and adoption: 47 percent of U.S. respondents to a CTAM/HUB survey were unaware of what TV Everywhere is, despite the fact that at least 72 percent of viewers in Western Europe and 92 percent in the U.S. have access to TVE services, a Viaccess-Orca report said.
