Description

A Multichannel Video Programming Distributor (aka MVPD) is the link between the user and the content. Users are required to pay subscription fees for a specified duration of time to access the content offered by the MVPD.

In line with the 1996 Telecommunications Act, An MVPD is an individual that acts as, but not restricted to – a direct broadcast satellite service, a multichannel multipoint distributor service, or a television accept-only satellite program distributor —that provides content for users. Examples of Multichannel video programming distributors are; Direct TV, Comcast, Charter, Time Warner Bros cable, among others.
